In a meeting recently with an employee of a very large organisation, I was reminded of how difficult it is to get the board of such companies to wake up to the world about them. Most board directors in large companies are unable to see what is happening on the street and unwilling to listen to those who know.
There is a simple solution to this. Use a small group of entrepreneurial consultants to be your lookout team – to be on watch for the opportunities and threats that are brewing on the horizon. These consultants can be internal or external. They can be a regular team or a collection of relevant specialists.
Whatever the make up of the team, I believe they need to be holistic. Include those who are head-based by all means but also include those who are more in touch with their hearts and their intuition. This will enable the whole team to be much more creative and innovative.
And when they report back, try to open your heart and connect to your intuition so that you can receive their prophecy with openness and be inspired to do something about it.
